Bauchi CP warns public against illegal possession of weapons, directs offenders to submit to police or face arrest

Bauchi state police command has warned members of the public against illegal possession of prohibited firearms, most especially Quasi security personnel and individuals to voluntarily surrender same to police or get arrested.
The Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, Umar Mamman Sanda gave the warning in a press release circulated to newsmen yesterday in the state.
CP Sanda directed all area commanders, divisional police officers, heads of tactical and operational departments of the command to put in place more efforts to identify, disarm, arrest and prosecute any Quasi Security Outfits, person or group of persons in possession of firearms prohibited by law.
“I have directed all divisional police officers to with immediate effect, organize enlightenment meetings for members of vigilante groups, forest guards, hunters and all other local security outfits within their areas of responsibility to ensure they operate in conformity with the extant laws guiding their establishment and operations”, the CP said in the press release
He added that “Respective Area Commanders are to coordinate, Supervise and report the outcome of such meetings to me”.
CP Sanda further said all local Quasi security outfits who operate offices, make arrest and detain persons is hereby declared illegal.
He said that the defaulters of the order will be arrested and prosecuted by the Nigeria Police.
According to the CP, the Bauchi state command under his watch will not relent in ensuring lives and property of citizens of the state is safe and secured.
