Bauchi REC tasks monarchs on mobilization of subjects ahead 2023 elections

The newly posted Bauchi Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Muhammad Nura has appealed to the traditional leaders in the state to mobilize their subjects towards peaceful conduct of the forthcoming February and March general elections this year.

The REC who made the call during his familiarization visits to six emirate councils of Bauchi state which include Bauchi, Dass, Misau, Jama’are, katagum and Ningi.

Our Corresspondent reports that the REC who began the familiarization visit at the palace of the Emir of Bauchi, Alh. Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, later moved to Dass Emirate council on 10th January, 2023.

The visit was also aimed at soliciting the support of the monarchs towards a peaceful and smooth conduct of the forthcoming 2023 general Elections.

Responding, in their separate remarks, the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass pledged to sensitize their subjects on the importance of collecting their Permanent voters Card and ensuring violence free Election.

While at the Misau and Jama’are Emirs palaces on the same mission, the REC got the assurance of the monarchs towards ensuring orderly and peaceful conduct of the election.

The Emir of Misau, Alhaji Ahmad Suleiman advised the electoral umpire to create more awareness for the voters to understand the importance of possessing Permanent voters Card and the need for them to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the elections. 

On his part, the Emir of Jama’are, Alhaji Nuhu Ahmad Wabi, promised support to the Commission toward a successful election.

He pointed out that the Emirate has zero tolerance to all forms of criminalities, praying Allah to guide the Commissioner in the discharge of his duty.  

During the visit, the REC inspected PVC collection centers in Jama’are Town where he expressed satisfaction with the level of its distribution and collection.
