CAN condemns attack on Governor Bala’s aide, urges effective community policing

Following a recent attack on the resident of Senior Special Assistant to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state on christian religious affairs, Pastor Zakka Luka Magaji by unknown gunmen, the Bauchi State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the act in strong terms.

The Chairman of the association, Rev Dr Abraham Damina Dimeus made the condemnation on Friday when he led officials of the Association on a sympathy visit to the house of the Governor’s aide in Birshi.

He described the attack which the motive is not known as uncalled for and unfortunate, adding that people need to know that life is sacred and must be protected at all cost.

The CAN Chairman who appreciated God that no life was lost or any one abducted during the attack, stressed the need for security to be beefed up across the country.

He appealed to the concerned authorities in the State and the country in general to as a matter of urgency step up security measures especially around areas that are prone to attacks by bandits.

While commending Governor Bala Mohammed for ensuring the security of lives and properties of the citizens, the CAN chairman said that more need to be done about the situation.

Rev. Abraham while urging communities to be security conscious and vigilant, appealed to the good citizens of the state to always volunteer information about bad eggs around them to the relevant authorities.

Our Corresspondent gathered that a 32 year old man who was injured during the attack was taken to ATBU teaching hospital for medical attention.
