Death of Senator Bukar Abba, great loss to Nigeria – Prof. Daura

The Vice Chancellor of Yobe State University, Professor Mala Mohammad Daura has described the death of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim, a former governor of Yobe state, as a great loss to Nigeria.

Prof. Daura stated this in a condolence message to Gov. Mai Mala Buni, in Damaturu yesterday.

Prof. Daura described the death as a national loss and not only for the family and people of Yobe, adding that the deceased would be remembered for his selfless service to humanity.

He recalled that Late Bukar Abba was the founder of the Yobe State University in 2006, during his tenure as governor of the state.

The former governor died at the age of 73 on Sunday in Saudi Arabia, after a protracted illness.

Born in October 1950, Late Bukar Abba Ibrahim was a Nigerian politician who served as governor of Yobe State from 29 May 1999 to 29 May 2007.

He also served as governor of the state from January 1992 to November 1993, and was a member of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
