The former campaign director-general of the former governor, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, Garba Sarki Akuyam, along with hundreds of party supporters have decamped to the Labour Party (LP) in the state.
Akuyam had also served as Commissioner for Rural Development and Commissioner for Finance during the immediate past APC administration in the state.
Receiving the decampees at the Bauchi labour party Secretariat Monday, the state chairman of the party, Barista Hussaini Saraki described the catch as unprecedented in the history of the LP in the state.
“Truly catching such a big fish such as Garba Sarki, a versatile politician and an economist of refute speaks volumes for the Labour Party in Bauchi state. The mass movement into the Labour Party is a signal for victory for the party in the state”, the chairman said.
He expressed confidence that the labour party would sweep the polls in the forthcoming general elections in the state, and called for more members and supporters to the party.
Former APC director-general campaign organisation of former governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, Alhaji Garba Sarki Akuyam has earlier announced his defection along with hundreds of supporters who besieged the LP Secretariat into the party.
Akuyam announced the reasons for their defection from the APC which included what he described as the unholy ways and manners the.party is being run by its leaders at both state and national levels, expressing confidence it will lead the LP to victory at the polls.
He was assured of his unalloyed support to the LP and his commitment to ensure its victory in the state and the nation at large.
