FUHSA Azare appoints 14-member Infrastructure and Facilities Committee

The management of Federal University of Health Sciences Azare, Bauchi state has approved the appointment of 14 persons Committee on Infrastructure and Facilities with Dr. Mohammed Alkali of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi as Chairman.

According to the letter of appointment of the committee with reference number FUHSA/AC/5/VOL.I/1, dated 11th March, 2022, the action was to ensure the take-off of the university.

“You may recall the establishment of FUHSA and the recent appointment of the Principal Officers by Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, with the view to kick-starting the process of its take-off”, parts of the letter said.

The letter which was signed by the Registrar, Ali A. Adamu on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Bala M. Audu noted that the Management has resolved to work assiduously towards ensuring the commencement of Academic activities.

He said that academic activities will commence by August/September 2022 for the 2022/2023 Session at the take-off site (CABS Azare).

The Vice Chancellor who said the committee drew its members from experts in academic and health institutions, with Dr. Mohammed Alkali as Chairman, pointed out that Arch. Nurudeen Barau of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi is to serve as Secretary.

Others are; Prof. Y O. Sadiq of ATBU Bauchi, Arch. Aminu Umar BASUG, Dr. Bappa Magaji FUHSA, Dr. Auwal Saminu Jibrin of FMC, Azare, Ibrahim Umar of FMC, Azare, Engr. Umar Faruk of FMC, Azare, Habu Umar of FMC, Azare and Dr. Musa A. Bello of ATBU, Bauchi as members.

The rest of the members are; Engr. Badamasi Salihu of ATBU, Bauchi, Engr. Salahuddeen S. Umar of ATBU, Bauchi, Build. Tasi`u Ibrahim, ASCOE, Azare and Lamido Makama of ATBUTH, Bauchi.

The Terms of Reference given to the committee include, to assess and take an inventory of available infrastructure at the site of the University and determine their current functional status, to determine the existing infrastructure and determine the appropriate ones to be rehabilitated/remodeled to accommodate the immediate smooth take-off of the academic programs in the University.

Others are, to assess the existing supportive facilities at the site and determine appropriate requirement for the smooth take-off of the University,
To study the physical master plan of the University and make recommendations on the development of a plan that will be appropriate to the mandate of the University as well as achieving esthetic beauty of the University environment.

The rest include; to on behalf of the University, liaise with the management of Federal Medical Centre, Azare for establishing partnership and collaboration with the University in line with established relations between universities and affiliate Tertiary Hospitals and to support the Vice Chancellor to achieve smooth speedy take-off of the University with commencement of academic activities in September, 2022.

The Committee which has 8 weeks deadline from the date of been appointed to submit its report, is to also undertake any other assignment theVice-Chancellor may assign to it towards achieving the overall goals of the University.

“While congratulating you on this appointment and wishing you success in the discharge of the onerous assignment, I wish to assure you of the Vice Chancellor’s highest regards”, the appointment letter said.
The Committee was inaugurated, by the Vice Chancellor .
