Gov Bala’s political adviser hails tribunal ruling in Bauchi

Mohammed Kaka Misau

Hon. Ahmed Abubakar Faggo, Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state on political matters has commended the gubernatorial elections petition tribunal for dismissing the petition brought against the victory of the governor by candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sadique Baba Abubakar.

Speaking to our Corresspondent in an interview yesterday, Faggo described the judgement as a true reflection of what transpired during the 18 February governorship election where Bauchi citizens gave Bala Mohammed the second mandate.

While expressing appreciation to Allah for the victory of the governor at the tribunal, Hon. Faggo, said what led to the litigation was the inability of the petitioners to accept the victory of Bala Mohammed in the election as a will of God.

“I think if people will have foresight and right thinking we wouldn’t have even wasted our time going to court, because in every election there must be a winner and the loser”, Faggo who is also a former Bauchi state house of assembly speaker pointed out.

“There was no need for anybody going to Court, why? Because election was conducted and Bala Mohammed of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won it with over 90 thousand votes difference”, he added.

Faggo recalled an instance where a Governorship candidate from a particular state in Nigeria won with vote difference of only 300 plus and the election was not annulled or cancel by the courts.

“In our own case here in Bauchi, we are talking of over 90 thousand votes margin, with that number, one has to reason that the winner is widely accepted by the masses”, Hon Faggo said.

While stating that the petitioners shouldn’t have wasted their time going to court, Hon Faggo decried that their actions led to spending of money unnecessarily, adding that the funds wasted should have been utilized in fostering development in the state.

According to him, the funds wasted should have been used to procure foodstuffs for distribution to the masses to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

“Just like it is said in Hausa that every man knows his wife to be, if you will win in the court you will know, if you will lose you will know, but unfortunately the matter was taken to court which led to waste of time and resources”, Faggo regretted.

“In all their reasons for going to the tribunal, no witness brought was able to prove beyond reasonable doubts that the election was rigged, so where was their ground that the election was rigged”, he said.

Faggo added: “We the PDP are supposed to be the ones to complain because during the election, they did everything possible to ensure that there is over-voting in some of our strongholds which led to cancellation of votes in those polling units, if not, we wouldn’t have been talking about vote difference of only 90 something thousand”.

He said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is a party that was founded on propaganda, adding that they exhibited it by telling their followers different thing any time they come out of the tribunal just to deceive them.

Faggo who expressed gratitude to Allah for the victory, assured that the Governor will use it deliver more dividends of democracy to the good people of Bauchi state.

“We are very sure that that governor will use the victory to do more good things to the benefit of the people, by doing so, the citizens will be satisfied that the victory is a well deserved one. We will not use the victory to shortchange the people of Bauchi, never, that’s not what we stand for and we will not do that because it is not in our character”, the former state assembly speaker assured.

Faggo who urged the people of Bauchi to continue to pray for the Governor to succeed in his second tenure, also appealed to PDP supporters not to be boastful or involve in making provocative utterances but take time to appreciate God for the victory.
