Loyalists of Ex-Bauchi APC Guber aspirant, Maijama’a justifies his defection to PDP

Some members of a former Governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, Mahmoud Maijama’a steering Committee have declared their total support to his recent defection to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Their decision is coming hours after other members led by the former Committee’s Chairman, Hon. Garba Musa Kore declared their loyalty and support to the APC and the party’s governorship candidate, Ambassador Sadique Baba Abubakar.

It can be recall that some members of the Mahmoud Maijama’a Steering Committee had during a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat Bauchi announced their decision not follow their principal to the PDP.

However, on their part, other members of the steering Committee announced in a statement made available to newsmen yesterday by Danlami Baban Takko (Falakin Dass), Director Media Mahmud Maijama’a (Dallatun Bauchi) Steering Committee that their decision to go with their principal, Maijama’a was in the best interest of the state.

The press statement which is titled ‘Why We Defected to PDP’, noted that the decision to go to the PDP was in the best interest of the group.

“Our attention has been drawn to a press conference held by some of our members of the Mahmud Maijama’a Steering Committee who have decided to remain in the APC but claimed to be speaking on behalf of all members of the Steering Committee”, parts of the statement read.

“The truth of the matter is, at a meeting held on the first week of November at Mahmud Maijama’a’s resident, Dallatun Bauchi made his intention known that he would defect from the APC to PDP”, the statement further clarified.

According to the statement, majority of members of the Steering Committee agreed to defect along with him to PDP while some few others decided to remain in the APC.

“The decision by Mahmud Maijama’a and the majority of members of the Steering Committee to defect to PDP was taken in the overall interest of Bauchi State”, Danlami Baban Takko said.

The statement further said that the Mahmud Maijama’a Steering Committee and others who have decided to defect with him to the PDP include his teeming supporters from across the Local Government Areas of the State.

Others the statement said, include former Commissioners, Members of the State Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Retired Permanent Secretaries. Directors, Leaders of Civil Society Organizations, Youths, Women Groups and Prominent politicians and the general masses.

“We remain loyal to Mahmud Maijama’a (Dallatun Bauchi) because he is a great Patriotic, a seasoned politician and an eminent citizen of Bauchi State”, Baban Takko declared.

The steering committee also declared loyalty to the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed who they acknowledged is trying his utmost best to uplift the State to greater heights.
