MAAUN Signs Another MoU To Boost Internalisation Process


The Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN), Kano on Friday signed another Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mezan-Tepi University (MTU) Ethiopia as part of an effort to boost internalisation process.


The signing of the MoU which was also conducted virtually, was designed to promote collaboration between the two universities in the areas of exchange programme and scientific research project among others.


Speaking at the occasion, the President of MAAUN, Prof. (Dr) Mohammad Israr said the purpose of the MoU is to establish a collaboration with a view to exposing the university to other universities across the globe.
According to him, the MoU would also give the MAAUN the opportunity to partner with the Mezan-Tepi University in an area of faculty and students exchange programmes.


In his remarks, the President, Mezan-Tepi University Ethiopia, Dr Ahmed Mustofa said the university, which is one of the 10 leading universities in Ethiopia, would provide the needed platform for the implementation of the MoU.


“The university which has three campuses with over 80,000 students will ensure that the MoU strengthens the partnership to provide students exchange, conferences and seminars among others.
Also in his remarks, the Vice President, Academic and Quality Assurance, Dr Nura A. Yaro said MAAUN found It necessary to internalise as no institution survives as an island.


He said the MoU which centres on three key areas including high impact research that are result-oriented, would benefit the university because the whole partnership is about mutual benefit like students’ exchange programme.
He expressed hope that the Mezan-Tepi University would ensure effective implementation of the MoU so as to ensure fruitful and sustained mutual collaboration between the two parties.

“As one of the fastest growing private university with over 900 students, 40 academic staff and 165 supporting staff, we hope to have fruitful mutual collaboration,” he said.


Also speaking, the Vice President, Administration/Registration, Dr Habib Uwais represented by Dr. Abdullahi Garba said MAAUN has all what it takes to build a strong relationship with other universities across the globe in order to promote zeal for research as well as to boost internalisation process.


The virtual MoU signing ceremony was witnessed by Engr. Bashir Garba, Head of International Office of MAAUN.
