PDP’s Magaji loses bid to unseat APC’s Leko at appeal court

The House of Representatives Candidate for Bogoro,Dass and Tafawa Balewa federal constituency under the People’s Democratic Party in the last general elections, Barrister Kefas Magaji was yesterday defeated by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Jafaru Gambo Leko Dull at the appeal court sitting in Jos, Plateau state.

It can be recall that the candidate of the PDP, Barrister Kefas Magaji had after the election, challenged the victory of Hon. Jafaru Gambo Leko Dull before the National Assembly election petition tribunal in Bauchi.

Barrister Magaji who felt unsatisfied with the ruling of the tribunal decided to challenge it at the appeal court.

However, the appeal court sitting in Jos, Plateau state yesterday upheld the judgement of the tribunal which validated the election victory of Hon. Leko as member representing Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa federal constituency.

Reacting to his victory at the appeal court, Hon. Leko appreciated the prayers of the people of his constituency which he said guaranteed his victory at both the polls, tribunal and the appeal court.

The federal Lawmaker who described the judiciary as the last hope of the common man, dedicated his victory to God and the good people of Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa local government areas.

Hon. Leko Dull while noting that words are not enough to express his appreciation to the electorate that voted for him and still stood with him in prayers, pledged to be a representative for all, irrespective of party differences.

He appreciated the effort of the party stakeholders at both the state, local government and ward level for all the support and sacrifices they made to ensure his victory at the court.
