Police arrest man, one other over alleged rape of minors in Bauchi

Bauchi state police command has disclosed Friday in a crime bulletin that its operatives have arrested one Bala Mohammed ‘m’ aged 67yrs for raping one Safiya (not real name) ‘f’ aged 17yrs and Hassana (not real name) ‘f’ 16yrs.

The bulletin also disclosed that a 28 year old man, Suleiman Musa was equally arrested for raping a minor.

As contained in the bulletin, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, disclosed that Sulaiman Musa’s case was reported to the police on 4th July, 2024 by Hajiya (not real name) of behind NITEL office Bauchi.

According to SP Wakil, the woman reported at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters Bauchi on that fateful day that on the same date at about 1150hrs, the suspect Suleiman Musa of the same address lured her 9 year old daughter Amina (not real name) of same address into his room while she was on errand and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He further explained that during interrogation, the suspect freely confessed to have committed the crime, adding that investigation is still ongoing, after which he would be charge to court for prosecution for the established offence.

SP Wakil said that of 67 year old Bala Mohammed was reported on 22nd June 2024 at about 1500hrs by one Abubakar Danladi ‘m’ aged 43yrs and one Umar Ismail ‘m’ aged 65yrs of unguwan Mahaukata Bauchi.

He said that the two persons reported at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, that the 67yr old lured their daughters one Safiya (not real name) ‘f’ aged 17yrs and Hassana (not real name) ‘f’ 16yrs both of same address into his room and had carnal knowledge of them and thereafter offered them five hundred naira (N500).

Wakil said the victims made it known that the suspect had canal knowledge of them up to five times, noting that during interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime and corroborated the victim’s statement.

He said investigation is still ongoing, after which the suspect will be profiled and charge to court.
