The Commander of 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi, BrigGen. E. Egbe has commended officers and soldiers of the brigade for their steadfastness, tireless efforts and sacrifices for the peace of the nation.

Brigadier-General Egbe also stressed the need to give children and widows of troops in the barracks community a sense of belonging that they were not alone in the scheme of things irrespective of their status.

He was speaking during a party organized for children as part of the activities marking the Yuletide at the 33 Artillery Brigade Warrant Officers/Sergeants’ Mess which brought together children of personnel in frontline orphans and widows.

The Commander further explained that the event was part of efforts to key into the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen TA Lagbaja’s Command Philosophy that centers on troops’ motivation and welfare to carry out their constitutional roles effectively with sound minds.

It was also in line with the GOC 3 Division & Commander Op Safe Haven, Maj Gen AE Abubakar’s directive that commanders make efforts to impact positively on troops morale and that of their families, stressing that the troops will always give their best on security if their families are properly catered for.

On the significance of the event, the Commander said it was to give the children and widows a sense of belonging in the barracks community, reiterating that the Nigerian Army will always be there for them and never forget them, as it was also to make merry with the children to reduce the possible negative impact that the absence of their parents could have on them

The event featured numerous fun activities, including games, quiz competition and dancing competitions, which availed the children a good time to mix up and the opportunity to dance and interact with the Commander.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of prizes and gifts to winners of the fun quiz competitions.
