Police invites Bauchi LG Commissioner over allegations of planned attack on APC Guber candidate’s campaign train

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bauchi state command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has invited the state Commissioner, ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki over allegations of planned attack on the campaign train of the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The invitation letter with reference number, AB:3380/BSX/POL.DESK/VOL 2 125, dated 8th February, 2023, explained that the LG Commissioner was been invited in the course of the command’s facts- finding effort on the planned attack.
The letter titled, ‘Re- Complaint of planned attack on the campaign train of the All Progressives Congress Gubernatorial candidate’, was signed by DCP Abdul W. Salama, Deputy Commissioner of Police, State criminal investigation department.
“The department is investigating a case of the above subject matter against the addressee”, the latter read in parts.
“That, it is in the interest of justice that you avail yourself for facts – finding at the State CID on 9/2/2023 at about 1000hrs”, the letter added.
When contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Mohammed Wakil confirmed that the Commissioner was invited by the CID department of the command.
“They invited him, I think there is a letter of allegation against him, they invited him, he came and he made statement and he left. So, that’s all what has happened”, he said.
According to the PPRO, it is very important for a citizen to honor the invitation of the police and give his own side of the story, adding that, it is a normal thing for police to invite anybody.
“So, he has honored the invitation, he came to the state CID, and he made statement and he left. It is the duty of the police to invite a citizen whenever there is an allegation against him, and it is good as a good citizen to honor the invitation of the police, and he has done that”, Wakil disclosed.
