Bauchi state government has stated that, it is committed to diversifying its economy beyond oil, and tapping the verse opportunities derivable in culture, tourism, agriculture, and solid minerals.
Bala Mohammed, the governor of the state made this known when he led the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Team in a visit to the prestigious Nike Arts Gallery in Lekki, Lagos on Wednesday.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bauchi, Hon Aminu Hammayo, the governor said the visit was part of the team’s ongoing engagement in Lagos.
The SSG noted that culture remains a critical component of economic growth, especially in tourism and the creative industry, which Bauchi State is strategically positioning itself to harness.
A press release made available to newsmen by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado, quoted the SSG emphasizing that Bauchi is blessed with abundant cultural heritage sites, traditional festivals, crafts, and creative talents that could be transformed into viable economic assets with the right investment.
Comrade Gidado stated that the team members were warmly received and conducted round the expansive gallery where they were shown a rich collection of Nigeria’s cultural regalia, artworks, and traditional heritage materials that celebrate the nation’s diversity and creativity.
The press release explained that the visit to Nike Arts Gallery formed part of the team’s pre-roadshow activities ahead of the Bauchi State Economic and Investment Summit in Lagos, where investors, stakeholders.
It stressed that partners are expected to converge to explore investment opportunities in the State .
