Bauchi deputy governor disowns fake Facebook account bearing his name

Bauchi state deputy Governor, Rt. Honourable Mohammed Auwal Jatau has disown several fake Facebook accounts been operated using his name by some faceless persons.

The Special Assistant to the deputy Governor on Media Management, Muslim Lawal who made this known in a press statement yesterday, noted that his principal does not have any Facebook account at the moment.

“The attention of Bauchi State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau has been drawn to several fake Facebook accounts created in his name clandestinely as the rightful owner of such accounts by unknown individuals”, Lawal said.

“To put record the straight, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau has never at any time created a Facebook account in his entire life and is appalled by the number of fictitious Facebook accounts bearing his name”, the Media Aide revealed.

He said that the Facebook accounts are currently being used to disseminate information ostensibly to make members of the public believe it is done on behalf or on the instructions of his principal.

Lawal who pointed out that the deputy Governor considers such actions as a sign of love for him by some of his supporters and well-wishers, however, noted that he has never authorised anyone to create or manage a Facebook account on his behalf.

“Considering the implication of such actions, His Excellency has advised that moving forward, nobody should create any social media account in his name and not just Facebook”, the deputy Governor’s media Aide announced.

He however, said that the deputy Governor may in due course, consider creating an official Facebook account and other social media platforms.

“At the moment, friends, associates and the general public are requested to disregard any Facebook or other social media handles bearing the name of Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Auwal Jatau, The special Assistant said.
