Bauchi Lawmaker, Bobbo distributes empowerment packages to 100 women farmers

A member representing Misau local government area in the Bauchi state house of assembly, Hon. Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo has distributed empowerment packages to one hundred women farmers within his constituency.

Our Corresspondent gathered that the gesture of the Lawmaker was in fulfilment the promise he made to women farmers whose farms were destroyed by flood last year in Zindi community of Misau local government area.

Speaking during the distribution of the packages in Zindi Community of Misau LGA on Friday, Chairman Bobbo Foundation and Chairman Fund distribution or Disbursement, Barrister Bakoji Zubairu said that the packages were meant for the beneficiaries to go back to their normal businesses to enable them become self reliant.

“What actually happened is, the promise made by Hon. Bobbo to the people of Zindi is being fulfilled today. Last year the people suffered from flood disaster which affected women who are into business of planting some crops for sales to dry season farmers at the nursery level to earn a living”, Bakoji said.

According to him, the women were into the business of planting crops such as onion, red pepper, tomatoes, among others to earn a living.

“Unfortunately, last year they lost all that they have planted for that purpose, that was when Hon Bobbo promised that he will assist them with token to get them back to their normal business”, Barr. Bakoji explained.

And God’s willing, today, he directed us to select 100 women from Zindi community and he allocated N3000 to each of them, totalling N3000 which we distributed this evening in the presence of Zindi village head”, he added.

Barrister Bakoji who Commended the Lawmaker for assisting the women to bounce back to business, urged them to use the money for the purpose it is meant for.

“I want to call on the beneficiaries to pray for the Lawmaker to continue to succeed in all his endeavors and for God to bless the donation they received so that it will multiply such that they will even assist others in future”, he said.

Barrister Bakoji expressed believe that the donation given will not only help the beneficiaries grow their businesses, but boost the economy of the Zindi community and by extension, Misau local government area and Bauchi state as a whole.

He said apart from the packages distributed, the Lawmaker had previously purchased jerseys for the youth in some football clubs within his constituency.

Speaking to our Corresspondent, Hon. Bakoji Aliyu Bobbo who is also the minority leader in the state assembly, said that the gesture was meant to improve the living condition of the citizens.

“This gesture is part of the leadership we are providing with the aim of helping the citizens. We are emulating His Excellency, Governor Bala Mohammed”, he said.

According to him, the Governor has always called on both elected and appointed government officials to give back to the community by providing quality leadership.

“The beneficiaries of this intervention today are our people, they have laboured with us and they were tested by God with flood which destroyed their businesses. So, there is nothing you can do than to assist them to enable them get back to business. That informed my decision to help them”, the Lawmaker said.

He said after the flood disaster, the state government took assessment of the incident and the affected persons were given emergency assistance.

Hon. Bobbo said that the state government will collaborate with Hadeja/Jamaare River basin to offer assistance to the affected persons after completion of assessment.

“There is need to screen everybody to ensure that, he lost valuables before we will know the kind of assistance to give”, he said.

Hon. Babbo encouraged dry season farmers not to be discouraged because of last year’s flood, adding that in Nigeria today, nothing is better than farming.
