Culture, a fabric that weaves us together – Army Commander Egbe

Culture has been described as a fabric that weaves humanity together, transcending boundaries and connecting the people in profound ways.

This were the words of the Commander 33 Artillery Brigade, Shadawanka Barracks Bauchi, Brigadier General Emmanuel Egbe while welcoming guests to the 2023 West African Social Activities (WASA) at the Army parade ground of the barracks in Bauchi Saturday.

According to Brigadier General Egbe, “it is through events like these that we reaffirm our commitment to understanding, respecting, and celebrating the cultural tapestry that makes us who we are”.

“Today, as we gather to partake in this West African Social Activity (WASA) 2023, we come together not only as a military formation but as a community that embraces the beauty of diversity and the power of unity”, he said.

Brigadier General Egbe said, in a diverse world, cultural exchange fosters understanding and empathy, adding that it is a testament to the fact that “despite our differences, we share common aspirations, dreams, and values”.

He said “as a brigade, we are privileged to serve alongside individuals from various backgrounds, each bringing a unique perspective and richness to our collective identity”.

The Commander who encouraged the barracks community to actively participate, engage, and interact with the cultural displays and performances, noted that, it is through such shared experience that they will foster camaraderie, build bridges, and further enrich the tapestry of the Brigade.

“As we celebrate this WASA 2023, let us carry the spirit of unity, empathy, and understanding beyond this event. Let us be ambassadors of inclusivity and respect, both within our Brigade, in the broader community and our dear country Nigeria”, General Emmanuel Egbe appealed.

The Commander who thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for attending the event through representation by his deputy, Rt. Honourable Mohammed Auwal Jatau, appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for releasing funds for this year’s WASA.

He called on all the members of Shadawanka Barracks community to unite and foster a brigade where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute his quota to ensure the security of the barracks, the environment, Bauchi state and the country at large.
