Dr. Abubakar Musa, the Medical Director of the federal health facility stated this during an interview with Baushe Daily Times in his office on Wednesday.

Dr. Abubakar said, in terms of provision of clinical services, record has shown that the hospital is having astronomical rise in patients attendance. The number of inpatients, outpatients have been on the rise, including deliveries and surgeries.

“We are the main referral centre in Yobe state and its environ. Patients are received not only from Yobe state, but also from neighbouring Jigawa state, part of Bauchi states and from Niger Republic”, he added.

“We are not too far from them. We pride ourselves as having the most cost effective Health care packages among all the tertiary federal health institutions in Nigeria. “There is no tertiary health centre of our nature that is providing services at such cost as we are providing”, he said.

Dr. Musa said “we do so, having in mind that majority of our clients are poor people who are mainly rural dwellers who may not be able to afford the charges if we go by what other tertiary health institutions like ours are charging”.

To better their services, the MD said, the hospital Management under his leadership has during the last eight years to consolidated on the gains that have been achieved by previous administrations.

“We have gone into collaboration with the Yobe state government, NGOs like the MTN foundation who are providing both dialysis and mammography services”, Dr. Musa added.
