Gunmen attack resident of Bauchi Governor’s Aide, Pastor Zakka, injures one

The resident of Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on christian religious affairs to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, Pastor Zakka Luka Magaji has been attacked by unknown gunmen, police has confirmed.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State, SP Mohammed Wakil who confirmed the incident to newsmen Friday said the attack was carried out by 7 yet to be identified gunmen at about 0013 hours.

The PPRO said that the gunmen stormed the resident of the Pastor in Birshi, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis to perpetrate the act.

“The command received distress call at about 0013hrs that the house of one Pastor Zakka Magaji residing in Birshi, the SSA to the governor on christian religious affairs was attacked by some armed men, numbering about seven”, the PPRO explained.

He said on receipt of the distress call, the commissioner of Police directed for quick intervention and thereafter, the armed men ran into the bush.

The PPRO said at the scene of the attack, 32yrs old man who lives in the house of the SSA was rescued and taken to the ATBU teaching hospital for medical attention.

The PPRO who could not ascertain where the SSA was at the time of the attack, said three empty shells of 7.6mm ammunition was recovered at the scene.

According to SP Wakil, patrol has been intensified along the area, combing the bush in order to arrest and bring to book, the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

He also reassured residents of the state that the Command is doing everything possible to provide adequate security for lives and properties.

He appealed to the law abiding citizens to always be security conscious and vigilant and report suspicious movements to the relevant authorities.

Speaking to newsmen, Pastor Zakka Magaji said he was the target of the attack but doesn’t know the motive behind it.

“I was their target even though I don’t know their motives but God has proven Himself. The person injured is getting better now”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Community Development, Hon Umar Babayo Kesa has led management and staff of the Ministry to sympathize with the SSA, Pastor Zakka Magaji over the attempt on his life by the yet to be identified gunmen.

The Commissioner while sympathizing with the SSA, prayed God to continue to protect him and his family from evil men.
