Hon. Auwal’s selection as Gov Bala’s running mate a will of God, Ex-Kirfi LG Chairman says

The immediate past executive chairman of Kirfi local government area of Bauchi state, Honourable Garba Musa, has described the selection of Hon. Auwal Jatau as running mate to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state as a will of God.

Hon. Garba Musa who holds the traditional title of Dallatun Barra made this known in an interview with our Corresspondent yesterday.

While commending the Governor for selecting Auwal Jatau as his running mate, Hon Musa said, “it is Allah who destined that His Excellency Bala Mohammed will do his first tenure with Distinguished Senator Baba Tela”.

According to him, the Governor and his deputy, Senator Baba Tela have since inception in 2019 performed creditably well together.

“They did together without any misunderstanding, the Governor always revered his deputy by calling him his friend or brother and they have been able to do a lot of things for the benefit of the masses”, the ex-Kirfi LG Chairman said.

“That is how God made it from the very first day of his administration up to this time that we are facing another election in 2023. It is the will of Allah that, come 2023, it is going to be Kaura/Auwal”, he added.

Hon. Musa further said that the Governor’s 2023 running mate, Hon. Auwal Jatau is a competent politician who is dogged and dear to the people of Bauchi state.

“All of them are our brothers, they have the interest of our state at heart, they have the zeal to help our state and Allah destined that Baba Tela will do one term and Auwal will complete the second term, perhaps, God has prepared another responsibility for him elsewhere that will enable him to serve us again”, he said.

Hon. Garba Musa who expressed gratitude to God for lives of the Governor and his deputy, Senator Baba Tela, prayes that the change will bring a lot of new development to the people of Bauchi state.

Speaking on his stewardship as the Kirfi LG chairman, Hon. Musa thanked God for giving him the opportunity to run the affairs of the Kirfi for two years.

“We thank God that since we were elected, we have been able to record successes during the period under review”, he said.

Hon Musa while expressing appreciation to Governor Bala Mohammed for granting them all, said such unflinching support has helped him deliver on his mandate by helping the people.

“We also gained the support of traditional leaders in Kirfi such that any time we seek for their help they use to help us and by so doing, we were able to maintain peaceful co-existence among the citizens”, Hon. Garba Musa said.

He explained that during his stewardship, a lot of support was gained from stakeholders in Kirfi in such a way that they always avail themselves for a meeting to fashion out ways of ensuring the progress and development of the local government.

“We got the support of our party, the ruling people’s Democratic Party (PDP) from ward to local government and other stakeholders and we have always engaged them for advices to enable us serve them better”, the immediate past LG Chairman said.

He said as a result of the massive support he enjoyed from the entire people of Kirfi local government area, he was able to always mingle with them to listen to their plights with a view to addressing them.

“We enjoyed their love which signifies that they were fully convinced with our leadership style and as such, they supported us 100 percent”, Hon Musa disclosed.

According to him, he was able to execute some projects, prominent among is reconnecting Hayi community which has about four wards to the national grid.

“They have been without electricity for about seven years. Any time I remember this project I feel happy about it, I can remember when the Governor came to Kirfi I told him that I was emulating him because the first thing he did when he came on board was to embark on massive repairs of electricity across the state which has assisted a lot in boosting the economic activities of the citizens”, Hon Musa noted.

“On flooding, there was a time we had problem of flood which caused serious havoc and I informed the governor about it, then he was not even in town but he gave us the needed support and we worked on it and the issue was addressed”, the ex-LG chairman said.

Hon Musa who commended the commitment of Kirfi people and other stakeholders such as the SSG who worked tirelessly to ensure that the project is successful, noted that Kirfi is lucky this year not to have recorded any flood.

“What impresses me the more is my ability to renovate several mosques, we renovated wells and dug many others in various localities, we sang boreholes and drilled many others”, he said.

Garba Musa added, “there are some areas we did roads and many other things and thanks to the governor for giving us the support which enabled us to touch many lives positively most especially in the area of repairing their roads, culverts and a lot of other things”.

He said, “if these things were not done the benefitting communities wouldn’t have had it easy during this year’s rainy season. we really thank God for this great opportunity to serve our people for two good years”, Hon Musa said.

The LG Chairman while thanking the Governor for giving all the needed support in piloting the affairs of Kirfi local government said he was encouraged by the governor to contest for the Chairmanship position by creating the enabling atmosphere for him.

“Honestly speaking, this is something that I can never forget in my entire life, he made it possible for me to contribute to the development of my people, the people whose fathers payed their tax which gave me the opportunity to get educated from primary to secondary school and even university scholarships, I have not been so opportuned since I finished secondary school and also graduated from the university to serve my people even for one month but Allah in his infinite mercy made it possible this time around through our amiable governor, His Excellency, Bala Mohammed”, the immediate past executive chairman recalled.

He expressed gratitude to the governor for making him appear in the list of local government chairman who have contributed immensely to the development and progress of Kirfi local government area.

“I have before now, seek for the opportunity to serve my people and with the coming of His Excellency, I got the opportunity, I really appreciate my Governor”, he said.
