OPINION : Senator Bulkachuwa’s comment on Senate’s impeachment threat on President Buhari his personal opinion not that of Bauchi North

It was this type of high-handedness, pride and lack of foresight that was responsible for Bulkachuwa’s single term in the House of Representatives and now at the Senate Chamber. That aside, I viewed with regret, the recent interview granted by distinguished Senator Bulkachuwa which featured and expressed the PDP option ‘B’ Plan: the Impeachment of President Buhari.
Bauchi North Senatorial District has benefited nothing from Senator Bulkachuwa compared to other senators’ interventions, particularly in Bauchi state. If in doubt go to Senator Bulkachuwa’s office in the Senate and see the composition of staff there, you will think he’s representing Imo state or Akwa Ibom state in the Senate Chamber. Me, thought distinguished Senator Bulkachuwa could contact his constituency before venturing into this herculean mission, impeaching the President!!!
I respect Senator Bulkachuwa for so many reasons: his membership of Katagum Royal family (Malam Ibrahim Zaki’s clan), holds traditional title, age, amongst the elders technocrats of the Emirate, his late uncle married from Malam Buwayi family. But this misrepresentation of Katagum people opinion ought to be corrected for the world to know that Bulkachuwa is on his own and he is only expressing frustration of failure to get return ticket.
It will interest you to note that, Bulkachuwa’s ambition and struggle for representation of Bauchi North at the Senate started without success from 1983, but the influence of his beloved wife made his ambition possible in 2019 with the assistance of the former Bauchi State Governor, M.A. Abubakar to ensure his victory.
In 1983, Bulkachuwa, sponsored by the late Umaru Dikko, contested with Dikko’s arch rival Distinguished Senator Abubakar Tuggar of blessed memory, but despite Dikko’s support he was defeated by Tuggar.
In 1993, sensing the might of Shettiman Katagum, he suspended his Senatorial ambition and lobbied for the House of Representatives Seat which he succeeded, but was edged out like now with his Senate position due to his attitudes.
The supposedly, Constituency Projects and lobbying for appointments for the unemployed graduates of his Constituency is not in Senator Bulkachuwa’s Diary. Don’t remind me of the leaked conversation with the unemployed graduates in his Constituency, that’s now history.
It’s now a tradition for elected members of the National Assembly to influence appointments for the unemployed graduates within their constituencies. This happened in many House of representative constituencies, particularly in Bauchi North Senatorial District. For instance, Rt. Hon. Kani Faggo of Shira – Giade and the former Representatives of Katagum Local government, Rt. Hons. Faruk Mustapha and Ibrahim Baba (IMBA), hundreds of unemployed graduates gained offers of appointments into the Federal Civil Service, reasons of their popularity. Senator Bulkachuwa could not respect federal character even in his office on the side of his constituency, only staff from other side of the Niger are found there. Haba!!!
Senator Bulkachuwa for remaining months left for you in the Senate we urged you to first consult your constituency before you take any decision that affects national livelihood. We voted you to power not to implement PDP agenda, we in Bauchi North are not ungrateful with the administration of President Buhari.
President Buhari gave us Two Ministers in his cabinet; though one active and the other somehow passive. President Buhari completed Kano – Azare – Bulkachuwa – Potiskum – Damaturu – Maiduguri Expressway. President Buhari sited two federal institutions in our Senatorial District: Federal College of Education, Jama’are and Federal University of Health and Nutrition, Azare.
Our true representative can’t smell impeachment move against our dear President or work with the opposition to undermine him.
Security issue, especially Terrorism is worldwide phenomenon, no country is spared, no matter how strong it is militarily. President Buhari has honoured the military and police every financial requests, supports in every way, be it recruitment of additional hands, weapons and morale boost, approved by the same Senate Bulkachuwa is a member. What else do you want Senator Bulkachuwa???
Desperation or any expired manouvres can’t help you politically and traditionally, better work with your constituency to build the nation devoid of rancor. Simple!!!
