By Mohammed Kaka Misau

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state, Babangida Babayo Ahmad, Katukan Misau has lambasted the All Progressive Congress (APC) for failing to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Babayo who was speaking to our Corresspondent in an interview yesterday, said that the APC has failed Nigerians woefully such that only people like senatorial candidate for Bauchi central under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi can salvage it.

“Nigeria today needs people like Senator Abdul Ahmad Ningi because the APC has failed and have done a shameful thing and that’s why we need people like Senator Ningi to go back to the Senate because he is bridge builder”, he said.

“Look at how things have become, no security, our economy has suffered serious setback, our schools have been shut down, look at the ASUU strike, it has been going on for over eight months, our students have been staying at home for this long, this is unfair and it’s not good for our country, it’s a serious setback”, Babayo lamented.

He reiterated that Nigeria needs dogged people who are educated like Senator Ningi to bring back the lost glory of the country.

The Katukan Misau who said that victory of Abdul Ningi at the recent party primaries was not a surprise due to his popularity in the PDP and his competency, called on the people of Bauchi central senatorial district to cast their votes for him in 2023 for quality representation.

“In Bauchi central we need people like Senator Ningi in 2023 not because of anything but because he has proved to us in the past that he is indeed a quality representative and he was able to also prove to us that he is a real son of Bauchi central because he doesn’t discriminate between his home local government Ningi and other local governments that made up the zone”, he said.

According to Babayo, Senator Ningi has always considered all the LGs equal as his own, adding that, that singular act has further encouraged the people of the zone to give him maximum support in ensuring his victory at the general election in 2023.

“Senator Ningi deserve to be elected due to his track records of achievements, he ensured that the interest of his region, the north is protected when he served as house of representatives member and subsequently Senator Bauchi central and he ensured that the North always gets it fair share in the affairs of the country”, Babayo recalled.

“When you come back to his constituency, Senator Ningi has in the past, donated busses to six hospitals in the North Central, he donated vehicles to NURTW members to facilitate easy movement of the people of his zone, sank boreholes, among other developmental projects”, he further explained.

According to him, “the electorates are all aware of what I am saying. He created job opportunities for our youths to become self reliant and employers of labour”, Babayo added.

Commenting on Misau and Dambam politics, his home local government, Babayo said that the house of representatives candidate under the PDP Hon Bappah Aliyu Misau is a tested and trusted person who is needed by his people to serve them because his antecedent as a man of the people, peaceful, hardworking, friendly and his zeal to protecting the interest of his people.

“He was once a house of Assembly member for Chiroma constituency in the past and his people can testify how he positively impacted in their lives, they saw the role he played in assisting students, facilitating employment for the youth and provision of social amenities to his people, it was during his time that developmental projects were carried out in Misau by the then administration of Governor Ahmed Adamu Mu’azu”, Babayo said.

He noted that Hon Bappah Aliyu Misau, used the opportunity to attract developmental projects to Misau such as renovation of schools and many others.

He appealed to the electorates not to vote leaders on the bases of how much they will get, adding that money politics is terrible.

“People should not be tempted to consider money and sell their conscience, let them vote base on competency, base on what the politicians has to offer in solving their needs as a people and not to be given money”, Katukan Misau advised.

“If you vote someone because he gave you money, you shouldn’t expect anything from him after he win because he will only be concerned on how to recover all the money he spent, so if people will vote based on competence and not on the bases of money, we will witness a lot of development in our society”, he said.

While describing money politics as a bad thing for the society, Babayo said money politics is of no help whatsoever for development and as such, people should shun it.

Babayo who also advised parents to always watch over the affairs of their children by instilling the needed discipline in them, lamented that some parents have abdicated their parental responsibilities.

“To better the lives of our youth is not the responsibility of government alone, it is the responsibility of parents who are supposed to watch over their children, know the kind of friends they mingle with”, he noted.

Babayo avverred that if a child is properly brought up, even without the help of government, he can work hard to sustain himself.

He appealed to the people of Bauchi central and Nigerians as a whole to ensure that they obtain their permanent voters card with a view to voting in competent leaders.
