Yobe Gov Buni commends FAO’s efforts in fighting against hunger

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has applauded the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the united Nations for making Agriculture, forestry and fishiries more productive and sustainable in Yobe state.

This was contained in a press release signed and issued to Baushe Daily Times by Hussaini Mai Suleh,
press Secretary to
the Deputy Governor of Yobe state yesterday.

The Governor made the commendation on Tuesday when he received the country representative of the FAO, United Nations, Mr Fred Kafeero at the conference room of the Government House Damaturu.

Represented by his Deputy, Hon Idi Barde Gubana, the governor pledged to support the organization to eliminate hunger in Yobe state.

Governor Buni urged the organization to maintain the provision of food security and malnutrition as well as sustainable management and utilization of rural resources such as water, land and to also employ natural and biological control for pests and deseases.

Earlier speaking, the country representative, Mr Fred Kafeero, informed the Governor that the organization is a specialized agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to defeat hunger and improve nutrition and food security.

Mr Fred, said they were in Yobe on a familiarization visit to see things for themselves and assess the level and quality of their projects.

He said FAO will soon introduce new programmes that would end hunger, provide food security and sustainability.
