I Left APC For PDP To Rescue My People – Reps Makama Misau.

By: Mohammed kaka Misau, Bauchi.

The member representing Misau/Dambam Federal Constituency of Bauchi State, Honourable Ibrahim Makama Misau revealed that he left the All Progressive Congress, APC because of the crisis within the party before, during and after the congresses.

The lawmaker also cited irregularities in the conduct of the party’s Congress as another reason for dumping the APC for PDP.

Speaking through his Senior Legislative Aide, Garba Modibbo in an interview with our Correspondent, Makama Misau, said after the just concluded National Congress of the party, he called a meeting of all his representatives across the 20 wards of the constituency where 90 percent of them gave him the nod to leave the APC due to what happened, particularly during the ward congress in Misau local government.

“There are issues in our ward’s congress. We sat down and invited all the party leaders, where we conducted another congresses at the wards and local government levels”.

The lawmaker who said that the party has a pending case before court, noted that the development is a threat to all members of the party, owing to what happened to them during the 2019 general elections in Zamfara state.

He said they left for the fear of losing their mandates due to the crisis rocking the party.

He added that, his representatives at ward levels asked him to move to the PDP in view of the people’s-oriented projects being executed by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state, which is in line with their agenda.

“There’s no place in the state that His Excellency didn’t go just to see for himself what should be done to the people. So, it became necessary for us to support the governor in that regard in order to move the state forward, because he is doing what we want”, he said.

“Therefore, I’m now confirming to you that, we decided to join the PDP, with the consent of our people because of the giant effort of His Excellency, governor Bala Mohammed”, Makama Misau added.

He said they didn’t leave the APC to get automatic ticket in the PDP as being speculated in some quarters, noting that they left because they don’t want to lose the mandate given to them by the people at the end of the day due to the crisis within the party.

“We really rescued our people by leaving the APC. For instance, if after voting for us, then tribunal nullify the election, didn’t we suffer them? You see, the party has cases in courts at both local government and state levels, did they settle it? They didn’t”, he noted.

“The primary election is on the corner, because parties are expected to conclude their primaries from now to 2nd June. The APC is expected to settle all these issues in order to have legitimate leaders. But since they are not ready for that, we deemed it necessary to look for an alternative, for the benefits of our constituents”, Makama pointed out.

He added that, though they have not been given automatic ticket, but that they were happily accepted in the PDP, that’s why people are thinking that they were given automatic ticket.

The lawmaker, who said that they will not force anyone to follow them to the PDP, enjoined his constituents to support him, saying that his decision was in their interests.

Honourable Ibrahim Makama Misau, who was elected as member representing Misau/Dambam federal constituency on APC’s ticket in 2015 general elections, has already purchased nomination form for same position on the PDP’s platform in the 2023 elections.
